I Finally Did It. Poor Lindir.

So my geeky brother gave me the idea for this a few months ago one night while we were watching The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and now that I have had a little free time and was in the mood to do it, I've done it.

Here it is. I regret nothing.

As I said, I regret nothing! Ahahahahaha. I feel like I should go to a Tolkien confessional and say, "Bless me, Father, for I have sinned; I have come to like Dwarves more than Elves," but it's true. It's amazing what AUJ did to me.

Now, don't get me wrong, I still adore a bunch of Elves from the First Age - Beleg, Fingolfin, Glorfindel, und so weiter. And Elrond is my second-favorite LOTR character. But, in general... yeah, Dwarves. They've just got so much relatable personality. How can you not like them?

Oh, and I also did this, as a reaction image:

I know, it didn't take much effort. But I got to cross it off my virtual to-do list.

Bofur's ability to hang on to his hat and scarf is truly phenomenal. I'm wondering if he uses superglue... Nope, wait a moment. I think when Bilbo opens the door to the group of Dwarves at Bag End Bofur is in the front and falls flat at Bilbo's feet. I think his hat might actually come off there. Must check for it the next time I watch AUJ.

I Made Some Stuff Again

I recognize, of course, that they are not memes, as they have not become memetic. It has lately come to my attention that such screencaps with captions may, in fact, be known as macros. I am not certain on this, so please do not quote me.

However, I have been playing around with Paint and some screencaps (The Lord of the Rings Image Library is a wonderful, wonderful website) and have devised the following:

That picture just screamed for that caption. In fact, I think I found it with the caption of something like: "I dunno. You're the wise Elf, you tell me." So it was only natural I label it.

I also played around with a new font, in case you didn't notice. I felt something more informal would be appropriate, and so came up with Kristen something or other. I've been using Lucinda Calligraphy and Lucinda Bright mostly until now.

I'm not happy with this one. I still don't know how to place the words in a way that I like, while retaining the emphases upon 'all', 'luck', and 'world'. I'm happy with the placement and italics of I really do, but it's the first sentence that gets me. Hmm. I don't like straight lines of text, but I can't curve them or slant them in Paint.

Sounds like I need a better picture manipulating program...

I love Bofur so much, y'all. I have the same fool's hope, the same faith in everything turning out eventually for the best. If only I had his willingness to befriend people, as well. Sadly, I'm not used to being around people in a positive way. Not that I have many negative encounters with people, though. They're mostly just neutral. You sit next to them in class, pass them on the sidewalk. It's not much.

And now I'm describing people like subatomic particles. Gah. *headbang*

I need a new macro, one that says, "THIS IS WHY I LIKE SCIENCE MORE THAN PEOPLE."

It would be very applicable to my life at a great many points.

Maybe I just don't know the right people...

Awesome Lines That Weren't In the Movie

Poor Gimli. He gets quoted all the time and never gets referenced. This awesome gifset corrects that error (and also has Elrond being wonderfully insightful - there was a reason I loved him before the LOTR movies made me dislike him, and also before the Official Fanfiction University of Middle-earth and AUJ made me like him again):

I have an AUJ calendar hanging in my bedroom at the moment, and the picture for July is Elrond in armor. So much awesome. It was still kind of a wrench flipping to July, though, as June was BOFUR SMASH and how on earth do you pick between Bofur and Elrond???

Not All Fanart Is Creepy (Though A Lot Can Be)

Some is very good. I feel the need to demonstrate this point. Therefore, this point shall be demonstrated with pictures. Everything on this blog lately has been demonstrated with pictures. Pictures are sort of taking over this blog. That is not exactly a bad thing, however.

I do make a point of adding some commentary occasionally, if only to keep this from being too Tumblrified.

Yes, I just coined a new word. Forgive me. However, I do know the rules, so I think I can break them occasionally. XD

Done by kadeart on Tumblr. And possibly on Deviantart. They usually keep the same user names, which, I must say, is mighty convenient for those of us who are less tech-savvy and just sort of stumble around the Internet, going, "Ooh, shiny," and clicking on stuff.

Not sure who this was by. The writing was all in a foreign alphabet! It was on pixiv.net, though. It should link back to the original if you click on it... above individual drawings of all the Dwarves going from their usual selves to blood-spattered red-eyed vampires. Or something like that. o.O

You wouldn't believe it, but the Bombur one might actually be the scariest. Yikes!

Now for a blast from the past:

Yep. Someone (kanapy.tumblr) did this. The first image is from the Rankin/Bass animated Hobbit movie. Fili and Kili were actually some of the least terrifying Dwarves in that. Don't believe me? Go look it up for yourself.

Seriously. I once looked up some videos from it (I saw it once in like third grade and all I remembered of it were Smaug's eye beams and Bilbo running around with his heels on fire going, "EXTINGUISH ME!!!", so I had a natural curiosity). My siblings happened to be around. My sister promptly declared that it was horrifying and creepy in the extreme and almost ran away. My brother and I watched with a sort of Bile Fascination - it was so bad we couldn't look away.

So, yes, the fact that Fili and Kili started off looking like that and ending up SO MUCH better has been mentioned a lot in the fandom. Basically, everyone improved with age. We're not complaining. XD

It's still a good designation, like the Brothers Ri. (Who wants to bet that their mother was called Glori or something?)
