AUJ:EE TRAILER!

It's in German, though. That is fine by me, but unfortunate for the rest of you. XP Sorry, losers.

Nah, okay, I'll give some rough translations of the new dialogue. Gandalf asks Bilbo, "What does it feel like?" and Bilbo responds, "It feels like... it feels like magic." At this point, the area behind them resembles the passageway to Rivendell, so I think it's a nod to the book where Bilbo thinks, "Hmm! It smells like Elves!"

The Goblin King inspects an Elven silver candlestick Nori filched, and says something along the lines of, "Second Age Elvish make. Totally worthless." *chunks it*

Elrond says to Bilbo, "I have heard that Hobbits are a resilient people." And Bilbo quotes LOTR: "And I have also heard, go not to the Elves for counsel for they will say both no and yes."

At the end, beginning with a voiceover, Bilbo says, "I'm not a hero or a warrior." Then it cuts to a line from Gandalf earlier saying, "That remains to be seen."

Did anyone notice the part where Bofur is dancing in Rivendell and Bombur is throwing food at him, though?? Looks like Dwalin might also be about to toss something as well.

OBSERVE!

Not sure what Elrond thinks of this fiasco. But, more importantly... LOOK AT THORIN. He's on the far right. And is he... is he tapping his foot? Is he approving of all this??? Granted, it annoys the Elves, but... THORIN? Implicitly approving of a Dwarven food fight?

*MIND BLOWN*

...I think my opinion of Thorin has changed again. Did NOT see this one coming. O.o.

Also... where Bofur is dancing, that's where Frodo will put the Ring 60-ish years later during the Council of Elrond. There. Now your minds are blown even further. XD

A Collection of Humorous Trivia

...Obviously, I've trawled the depths of FailBlog once again...

If Bilbo had attempted to explain what had happened to him when he was separated from the rest of the Company. Yeah... in hindsight, he was better off not even trying.

Oh, 'The Trouble with Tribbles'. I really need to find this one and watch it. The set people purposely kept dumping more and more Tribbles on Kirk/William Shatner, since they were sick and tired of his full-of-himself attitude. I've seen the clip. They just keep falling on him. And then a final Tribble falls down and hits him on the head. LOL.

How can you not tell the difference? Spock has pointy ears, for crying out loud, and Kirk doesn't!

Somebody who works at this story has a sense of humor, is all I can say. XD

I especially like the shark balloon. XD The glasses are a nice touch, as well.

Oh, definitely.

Considering our experiences with an iMac, I'll stick with WALL-E, thank you very much.

The little tractor that could. "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, I think I can... I thought I could, I thought I could, I thought I could, I thought I could..."

Does anyone else remember that book?

Happy Birthday, Bilbo and Frodo!

September 22nd is the birthday of Bilbo and Frodo!

The Hobbit I used to ignore even more than I ignored the four in The Lord of the Rings (shame on my irreverent youth!), now my favorite Hobbit. Three cheers for Bilbo, the bravest little Hobbit of them all!

"Go back?" he thought. "No good at all! Go sideways? Impossible! Go forward? Only thing to do! On we go!"

"I come from under the hill,
And under the hills and over the hills my paths led.
And through the air: I am he that walks unseen.
I am the clue-finder, the web-cutter, the stinging fly.
I was chosen for the lucky number.
I am he that buries his friends alive and drowns them and draws them alive again from the water.
I came from the end of a bag, but no bag went over me.
I am the friend of bears and the guest of eagles.
I am Ring-winner and Luckwearer;
and I am Barrel-rider."

"Farewell, King under the Mountain!" he said. "This is a bitter adventure, if it must end so; and not a mountain of gold can amend it. Yet I am glad that I have shared in your perils - that has been more than any Baggins deserved."

"If ever you are passing my way," said Bilbo, "don't wait to knock! Tea is at four; but any of you are welcome at any time!"

"Roads go ever ever on,
Over rock and under tree,
By caves where never sun has shone,
By streams that never find the sea;

Over snow by winter sown,
And through the merry flowers of June,
Over grass and over stone,
And under mountains in the Moon.

Roads go ever ever on,
Under cloud and under star,
Yet feet that wandering have gone
Turn at last to home afar.

Eyes that fire and sword have seen
And horror in the halls of stone
Look at last on meadows green
And trees and hills they long have known."

"The Road goes ever on and on,
Down from the door where it began,
And far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it meets some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say."

Thank you, Bilbo. And thank you, Professor Tolkien. You have changed my world for the better, and I would not have it any other way.

Aaaaaand here is where this post devolves into the many different gifs I have of Bilbo - and of Frodo, because we haven't forgotten him.

"Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though I oft have passed them by
A day shall come at last when I
Shall take the hidden paths that run,
West of the Moon, East of the Sun."

Monday Mornings

Yeah, pretty much. Especially when you learn that the class average of your first test in ochem was 67%. Yikes. It's only gonna go downhill from then.

And then you go straight to a physics test. And the last question was a trick question, I swear.

On the other hand, physics lab was insanely easy. Walk in, do a few calculations on an Excel spreadsheet, walk out in 45 min. XD I love our group. Half of us have already been through Cal 3, so we're light-years ahead of everyone else. We always get out first.

On the other, other hand, I have organic lab tomorrow. Hoo boy.

Random Arts Post

So I did some other stuff while I was reformatting my Bofur Optimism and Dori Pessimism memes. Behold:

The aftermath of the Battle of Azanulbizar (Dimrill Dale in Westron, Nanduhirion in Sindarin). Thrain, not missing in the books, although blind in one eye and halt from a wound on the leg, stood up before the surviving Dwarves (1/2 of the Dwarves fell that cloudy winter day) and claimed victory.

They responded: "If this is victory, our hands are too small to hold it."

:(

...sniff. Now I'm going to make myself cry again.

By the way, Thorin's younger brother died that day, also. My belief is that, both book and movie, Frerin died fighting Azog. After all, Azog beheaded his grandfather; Frerin could have just as easily targeted Azog in the books as in the movie, and since it doesn't say how he died, just that he died, I'm free to speculate.

I also believe that Kili looks like Frerin. Stew on that for a bit.

And, finally, the award that I just had to make up for myself in honor of an escapade last week:

And I managed to do it on the same road. Sigh. I shall probably remember forever which road is which now. Which is, I suppose, the one benefit that comes from getting lost - you are usually guaranteed to remember how you got lost from then on out!

Of course, I could have made the award fancier... added a border and gold stars or something. However, there is a limit to what you can do with Paint. Sadly.

I had to explain the 'Thorin Oakenshield Award' joke to my dad. :( It's like the, "You're as useless as a shoe shop in the Shire." If you don't get it... you obviously are not of the fandom.

Fandoms: "We might not have been here at the beginning, but we will be here until the end."

YES. PURE YES.

So I was lurking on Tumblr and found this:

| when I say “I wish they would turn this book into a movie” what I really mean is “I wish they would turn this book into a 17-hour-long spectacle that includes every single solitary detail and doesn’t deviate at all from the storyline and has perfect casting”

| |

| | | Did you mean: The Hobbit?

| | | | DID YOU MEAN: THE HOBBIT???

Me: Yes. Pure yes. This is epic win. THANK YOU, o heavens, for someone else who isn't wrapped up in complaining about AUJ! THANK YOU!!

Now I Know Why Few Tumblrites Bother With Post Titles

...I mean, when you start reblogging gifsets and stuff sometimes there's very little you can say about them, since they (and their captions and hashtags) speak for themselves.

For example:

And now for the commentary (my brother and I like to imagine Fili is saying, "Beer, tell me your secrets," lol):

| Fili and Kili figuring out the mysteries of the barrel in the back ground are killing me.

| Kili’s like, what should I do? It doesn’t open. Brother, help me figure out its secrets.

| Then it looks like Fili’s just slammed his head into the front of the barrel to try and get a mind connection with it through forehead contact.

| | # thumping his head against it more likely # think think think

Lol.

Yet Another Post In My Attempt to Spread Jed Brophy Appreciation

...Because, seriously, the man is amazing and deserves all the appreciation we can give him.

First, another gifset explaining the basic reasons why we should appreciate Jed Brophy:

Let's also not forget this one:

Rrider of Rohan Jed Brophy!

I would also like to take a moment to share a picture I found on Tumblr. Someone claimed: "James Nesbit (Bofur) is probably the silliest of all the Hobbit actors."

Some one else retorted: "Are you sure?" and posted this picture:

*dying of laughter*

The tags on this post? # NO WAIT THAT'S NOT SILLY #THAT'S UNBELIEVABLE

This is also a good opportunity for the long-threatened Jed Brophy Twitter Appreciation Post I am indebted to this person for finding these all). So, therefore, without further ado, let us commence.

Yes, he roleplays as Nori on Twitter. Seriously.

Both gross and hilarious. This cast... I'd also like to know who thought it would be a great idea to ask the cast that!! Seriously. I could think of so many better things to ask them.

Yes, he talks in rhyme for no reason. He also refers to himself as 'jedi', usually signing his twitters with 'xxjedi'. (Humorously, this conversation continued with Graham asking, "You wear pyjamas?" leading to at least one Tumblrite wondering if this means Graham doesn't wear them, lol.)

He really wants to be in Dean's photoshoot. I hope he got to be in it. Really, Dean, how could you say no??

Have I converted anyone yet? XD
