Saruman Will Defeat Rohan With Sugar

From FailBlog:

"Is this it? Is this all you can conjure, Saruman?"

...a few attacks by the brightly-colored blobs of sugary goodness on the Hornburg later...

"What can men do against such reckless Peeps?"

...

Okay, I thought it was funny. *slinks away*

Fulfilling My Duty To Spread Humor Through FailBlog

Therefore, have another batch of amusing pictures:

I love how official-looking that placard is...

Reports of "Cowabunga!" cannot be confirmed or denied.

Bonus points for that flip.

I vote for the entire chemistry faculty at my school to wear this shirt.

I think it's a definite improvement.

Because it's not a real fail until somebody loses a shoe.

We chemists and our sense of humor... Bonus points if you get it.

Always remember what Pippin said: "Short cuts make long delays!"

Ahahaha. I've had my good laugh for today. The idiots in the world have one useful purpose that way.

Why I Love FailBlog

Here are some recent funnies from FailBlog to prove my point:

Her last name was apparently Crisipi, too, as if the whole situation could not be more surreal. I cannot believe that bacon was wasted in such a manner. Devoted to such an evil cause... the horror.

I must applaud the efficiency of this mopping technique.

Now that's just awesome. I would never have the dedication to do all that. Especially not the patience.

I think a lot of people would actually but this...

"It's something with a lot of x's."

- my differential equations professor, trying to define a differential equation

Told you this man would be a goldmine of quotes.

Monday, January 13, 2014

It's falling because that's what things do.

-- my differential equations professor

Expect more quotes from this man as the semester progresses. He bids fair to be an unintentional goldmine of funny lines.

For context, he was talking about an object in free fall. Also, he couldn't remember the gravitational constant (9.8 m/s^2 or 32 f/s^2). The class reminded him.

A Simple Explanation of Governments, Using Cows

It is imperative upon me to post this thing I have seen several times on Tumblr. It is too funny (and too accurate) not to reblog. Without further ado:

  • Socialism: You have 2 cows and you give one to your neighbor.
  • Communism: You have 2 cows; the government takes both and gives you some milk.
  • Fascism: You have 2 cows; the government takes both and sells you some milk.
  • Nazism: You have 2 cows; the government takes both and shoots you.
  • Bureaucratism: You have 2 cows; the government takes both, shoots one, milks the other, and throws the milk away.
  • Traditional Capitalism: You have 2 cows. You sell one and buy a bull. Your herd multiplies, and the economy grows. You sell them and retire on the income.
  • An American Corporation: You have 2 cows. You sell one and force the other to produce the milk of four cows. Later, you hire a consultant to analyze why the cow dropped dead.
  • A French Corporation: You have 2 cows. You go on strike because you want 3 cows.
  • A Japanese Corporation: You have 2 cows. You redesign them so they are one-tenth the size of an ordinary cow and produce twenty times the milk. You then created a clever cow cartoon image called Cowkimon and market them worldwide.
  • An Italian Corporation: You have 2 cows, but you don't know where they are. You break for lunch.
  • A Swiss Corporation: You have 5000 cows. None belong to you. You charge others for storing them.
  • A Chinese Corporation: You have 2 cows. You have 300 people milking them. You claim full employment, high bovine productivity, and arrest the newsman who reported the numbers.
  • An Iraqi Corporation: Everyone thinks you have lots of cows. You tell them you have none. No one believes you and they bomb you. You still have no cows, but at least now you are part of a democracy.
  • Counter Culture: "Wow, dig it, like there's these 2 cows, man, grazing in the hemp field. You gotta have some of this milk!"
  • Surrealism: You have 2 giraffes. The government requires you to take harmonica lessons.
  • Apathyologism: You have 2 cows. You do not care.
  • Fatalism: You have 2 doomed cows.
  • Atheism: You have 2 cows. There is no God.
  • A West-Country Corporation: You have 2 cows. That one on the left is kinda cute.
  • A Brazilian Corporation: You have 2 cows. You pay taxes for 6 cows. You have to sell one cow in order to pay the taxes. Your remaining cow gets sick and dies while waiting for availability in the public vet hospital.
  • PETA: You  have 2 cows. You kill them both. You then use naked women to convince other people that killing cows is wrong.
  • Moffat: You have 2 cows. Both of them are your daughters time-traveling from the past where they had a brief love affair with Leonardo da Vinci, making you the rightful Queen of England. As you assume the throne, you throw them off a building.
  • Romney: You have 2 cows. You are still not the President of the United States.
  • An Irish Corporation: You have a million cows because they're everywhere.
  • Tumblr: You have 2 cows. You ship them together and make GIF posts screaming about how much you love your cows, but they should stop existing because they are so perfect.
  • Also Tumblr: I give you a hamburger.
  • Cows: The things you go through.
  • This post: Started off as a post that explained different governments but then everything changed when the fire nation attacked.
  • The Fire Nation: You have 2 cows. One banishes the other and sends it to go regain its honor.
The only thing that could possibly improve this post is a reference to Thud!:
  • Discworld: THAT! IS!! NOT!!! MY!!!! COW!!!!!
There. Now it is perfect. XD

Let Me Sing You the Song of My People

If you have not seen by now the video of Orlando Bloom himself doing this song, I don't know what to say. Because you simply aren't a Ringer if you've never sang along with, "They're Taking the Hobbits to Isengard!"

Help, I Can't Stop Laughing

I just... I don't even have any words to describe this.

What is this new devilry?

*goes off to laugh hysterically*

Oh, by the way, the source appears to be theunicornslap.tumblr.com. Not sure if they did it or not, but whatever.

Gandalf the Red

We have fun times on TOR.net. XD For example, our latest caption contest:

Ataahua: "Gandalf goes undercover in December."

Kim: "Balin was late, so that left only one choice to play Santa."

Otaku-sempai: "I am the keeper of the Secret Cane!"

ryouko: "Santa Claus is never early or late. He arrives precisely when he means to."

Lissuin: "There are no safe paths in this part of the world. Remember you are over the Edge of the Wild now, and in for all sorts of fun wherever you go. Before you could get round Peppermint Stick Forest in the North you would be right along the slopes of the Gumdrop Mountains, and they are simply stiff with goblins, hobgoblins, and orcs of the worst description. before you could get round it in the West, you would get into the land of Lord Licorice; and even you, Bilbo, won't need me to tell you tales of that black sorcerer. Stick to the Rainbow Path, keep your spirits up, hope for the best, and with a tremendous slice of luck you may one day see the Molasses Swamp below you, and beyond it, high in the East, the Lost Candy Castle where dear old Smaug lives, though I hope he is not expecting you."

cats16: "Nobody sees the Wizard!"

The Prancing Pony: "What do you mean? Do you mean to wish me a merry Christmas, or do you mean it is a Christmas to be merry on? Or do you mean that you feel particularly merry this Christmas?"

zarabia: "One does not simply walk to the North Pole."

Me: "YOU SHALL NOT PEEK ...into your presents."

I love TheOneRing.net so much, all right? XD

All Hail Jed!

I found the Jed Brophy Post To Rule Them All and must, according to my personal code of Tolkien geekdom, repost it here.

| Jed Brophy, everyone.

| | And don't forget

| | Rohan Jed Brophy as well!

| | wow this dude gets around

| | | Do not forget him as one of the Black Riders chasing Arwen

| | | | plot twist: all characters in LOTR and the Hobbit are played by Jed Brophy

| | | | Jed Brophy as Frodo

| | | | Jed Brophy as Galadriel

| | | | Jed Brophy as everyone

| | | | | Jed is everyone.

| | | | | Jed is you. Jed is me.

| | | | | A L L H A I L J E D

My brother and I literally cackled like madmen over this post. I'm still deriving way too much amusement out of that photoshopped FOTR poster... XD

Reno Erat Rudolphus

Now presenting: 'Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: An Abridged Edition' in LATIN!

XD This is simply hilarious. It's done in the true Gregorian style, and yet the lyrics (which I can decipher perfectly well, thank you) are the ones we all know and love, if slightly abridged. For instance, the opening lines go like this: 'Rudolph was a deer. He had a red nose. If you ever saw it, you would say it glows.'

Whoever did this, I love them.

Prince Charming? Ha!

I love this fandom, okay?

Version #1:

*sigh* There's one problem for me, though. I have dubbed it the Kili Syndrome. While Aidan Turner is by all accounts (even mine) a perfectly cute guy and fine to drool over if drooling is your thing, when I look at Kili all I can think is he looks like a cute little boy. I want to pat him on the head, take him home, and feed him cookies. I can't think about Kili in a romantic context at all.

When it comes to Fili, I want to go play pranks on people with him. He'd be an awesome older brother. (Could I request Fili and Kili to be my older brothers? I don't have any...)

As for Thorin... let's just say I'd be too busy staring at my feet to do anything else. He's also safely out of my age range. ;) Some, however, disagree.

Version #2:

| Eventually, Thorin Oakenshield is going to live that down.

| Today is not that day.

| | He was also stuck in a tree!

Pardon me, I'm over here dying of laughter... Thorin will NEVER live that down.

Aidan & Dean For the Win!

So the other day Aidan Turner and Dean O'Gorman did a live Questions & Answers on the Hobbit Facebook page. Let me share my favorites:

Random Person 1: "To Aidan: So you have played a dwarf, a werewolf, and a vampire. Do you have any propositions to play a man? Maybe they think you are too cute to play a human?"
Answer: "Aidan's waiting for the human race to evolve into more beautiful people, so Aidan can be more representative of us mortals."
Random Person 2: "^THIS."
Random Person 3: "Speaking in the third person or was that Mr. O'Gorman?"
Random Person 4: "THIS IS THE BEST."
Random Person 5: "This is the 'WIN' of this evening XD"
Random Person 6: "anyone else dying of laughter?"
Answer: "That was Dean, haha."

Random Person 1: "How would Fili and Kili react on seeing Thorin twerk??"
Answer: "They'd turn around and go back home."
Random Person 2: "^THIS"
Random Person 3: "The image cannot be unseen."
Random Person 4: "Now I"m stuck with the mental image of Thorin majestically twerking while Fili and Kili run away as fast as they can while going "NOPE"."
Random Person 5: "I'd rather see THEM twerk!"
Random Person 6: "What have I just imagined in my head? No..."
Random Person 7: "Omg Thorin twerking would be majestic indeed."

Random Person 1: "If you could live in Middle-earth would you want to live as a Hobbit, Elf, Dwarf, or a Human? "
Answer: "I'd go with human because I've already done that and I know what I'm getting into. - Aidan."
Answer: "I'd be one of the eagles! - Dean."

Random Person 1:  "What's your favorite dwarvish word?"
Answer: "Ich fit udre - it means "Excuse me, your beard is in my mouth."

Random Person 1: "Dean, which Hobbit character is Aidan most like in real life and why, and Aidan, what about Dean?"
Answer: "Aidan's short term memory is like Radagast. - Dean."
Answer: "Aidan can't remember for Dean."

Pardon me while I go die of laughter. XD Aidan's short-term memory is especially amusing.

It's Brilliant, Brilliant, Briliant, I Say!

*cackles insanely*

In the words of the person on whose blog I found this: I HAVE WAITED MY WHOLE LIFE FOR THIS GIF.

...You know, whenever I say, "It's brilliant!" to myself - even when I'm just thinking and not saying anything out loud - I say it in an Yzma voice. No kidding.

Then again, I can recite this entire section of the movie from memory and am not at all ashamed of that fact. In fact, anywhere from, "Pull the lever, Kronk," up to, "It's dinner time!" is fair game. Yup, I know it all. It's one of my weirder accomplishments. But who cares? XD

It's Time To Post Catholic Pictures Again!

I can't believe that kid is sitting there. How did this come about without the Swiss Guards interfering? Then again, it is just a kid, and Pope Francis doesn't seem to mind. He's amazing that way. Probably creates headaches all the time for the Swiss Guards, but still... he's amazing.

"For He will command His angels concerning you, to guard you in all of your ways." - Psalm 91:11

Now I want to draw that picture... such pretty wings. Of course, they aren't biologically accurate, even ignoring such things as proportion and conflicts with the existing skeletal structure (the main reason why, apparently, Smaug is going to be a wyvern in DoS). The feathers are all raggedy and out of line. But they're still fluffy and white and pretty...

St. Peter's Basilica is going UP!!!

...Come on, admit it. That would make an awesome movie. All you need to add is a fight scene involving the Swiss Guards and a chase scene involving the Popemobile, and it'd be sure to win all the Oscars!

That sounds about right. XD No, actually, I only like the smell of coffee. I don't like the taste. As for wine, I've never really had any, since what you get in Communion at the Mass isn't still wine. Oh, sure, it has the appearances of wine, but in its essence, its substance, it is no longer wine, but the Blood of Christ. That's a rough definition of transubstantiation, folks.

Read my blog, learn random weird facts. Trade? :)

Can I just say that this scene, couple with this quote, makes me very happy?

"For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law." - Matthew 10:35.

Elves Are Stupidly Fabulous

If you haven't seen this yet, you need to.

Ahahahaha. Thorin is so unimpressed. Thranduil is being all fabulous and Elrond is being... I don't know... Dracula or something with his cape? Ahahahaha. Gotta love this cast, every one of 'em.

Uhh. The gifs got messed up again. Grr. Ah, well, it can't be fixed now.
