I don't care what Diane Sawyer or the media as a whole says. The Church is not in a state of controversy. How do you think we've elected the past few hundred Popes? And Benedict resigning is not going to cause 'two popes'. America has had several ex-presidents and that hasn't caused controversy.

The lightning bolt does not, I repeat, does NOT symbolize God's wrath striking the Church for having immoral doctrines. If anything, God's wrath will strike us for failing to live the Gospel as we should. Go get your Bible (yes, I read my Bible, Jesus people who lie in wait on campus with little pamphlets- I read a chapter every day) and read the history of Israel. God smited them all the time for doing evil in His sight. (Yes, I know it's actually 'smote', but 'smited' sounds funnier.)
Oh, and have you actually seen the picture? The lightning bolt isn't actually touching the cross. It's a smidgen away. The Church is still protected.
The Church will always be protected. And it was promised that the gates of Hell will never prevail against it.
