I Just Learned How To Tag Stuff

Or is it 'hashtag'? I'm confused.

On another note, Blogger alphabetizes the hashtags. Grr. I want them in the order I write them, Blogger! If I want them alphabetized, I'll alphabetize them myself.

Even so... hashtags... you do not know how much of a breakthrough this is for me. This is great. I've been needing to organize my posts better for ages. Now I can look up stuff.

...As soon as I go back and tag all my posts... *groans* ... all almost 400 of 'em...

*sigh*

Has Anyone Noticed Thor's Hair?

Oh, and credits to the lovely Natsu at Inside A Camo Bag for the pretty pictures! Now, on to the observations:

(1) Thor's hair is longer. No surprise there. It's been getting longer every movie he's in.

(2) He's pulling it back now. Smart move, Thor. It'll help keep it out of the way during a fight.

(3) Look. Look closely at his hair. Look at Odin's, too. Behind their ears. They're wearing braids. Braids in their hair. Were they wearing these in Thor? Because I don't remember this detail.

I can only come to one conclusion...

DWARF HAIRSTYLES ARE SPREADING THROUGHOUT THE GALAXIES!!! MUAHAHAHAHA!! SOON BRAIDED HAIR, MOUSTACHES, AND BEARDS SHALL BE THE FASHION EVERYWHERE! AHAHAHAHA!

For reference:

Obviously not my art. It's done by the wonderful EM-MIKA on Deviantart. *fiddles with Blogger* Ah, looks like I have the link working. I always want to give credit. It's like waving and holding up a big honking sign: "These people do great pictures! Go check them out!"

Because it's way better art than I could ever do. And they mostly do it on computers, too. *marvels* I just use colored pencils. Much more accurate than I could ever be with a mousepad... gah.

Although I did draw three pictures yesterday. It was quite a burst of creativity on my part. Haven't done anything in forever. But I felt like drawing Dragons again, so draw Dragons I did. Lahar Dragons, though, not gwamar - ah, oops, sorry. That wasn't English. I meant the Dragons weren't in full Dragon form, but rather in their human-like form. My Dragons in my stories shapeshift. Makes more sense to me. I'm all about stuff making sense.

Anyway.

THE DWARVES SHALL RULE THE GALAXY!!!! MUAHAHAHA!!!!

Sometimes I Feel Like Mycroft

So, it's been raining lately. Instead of the little black umbrella that fits in my backpack, I decided one day to carry a large one without the collapsing handle. It was very useful in the rain with its greater amount of coverage.

And then I went inside... and had to carry it, folded up. It has a long metal point on the end that clicks when you tap it on the pavement. And I DARE you to walk with an umbrella and not tap it ominously on the pavement as you walk.

I felt like Mycroft Holmes.

I felt like making random deductions and ordering minions around.

I need to carry that umbrella around again more often, obviously. XD The feeling of power was a nice feeling... Muahahahaha.

In the meanwhile, I also resemble Mycroft in other ways:

This is a common reaction to stupidity around me.

This is another common reaction. Which leads to:

My brother and I appear to be the only ones to consider this funny, as we quote it a lot. Everyone else ignores us. That is probably the proper response.

The only problem with me being Mycroft is that I'm not into politics. Hmm. Ah, well. Cake... lovely cake...

A Collection of Humorous Trivia

...Obviously, I've trawled the depths of FailBlog once again...

If Bilbo had attempted to explain what had happened to him when he was separated from the rest of the Company. Yeah... in hindsight, he was better off not even trying.

Oh, 'The Trouble with Tribbles'. I really need to find this one and watch it. The set people purposely kept dumping more and more Tribbles on Kirk/William Shatner, since they were sick and tired of his full-of-himself attitude. I've seen the clip. They just keep falling on him. And then a final Tribble falls down and hits him on the head. LOL.

How can you not tell the difference? Spock has pointy ears, for crying out loud, and Kirk doesn't!

Somebody who works at this story has a sense of humor, is all I can say. XD

I especially like the shark balloon. XD The glasses are a nice touch, as well.

Oh, definitely.

Considering our experiences with an iMac, I'll stick with WALL-E, thank you very much.

The little tractor that could. "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, I think I can... I thought I could, I thought I could, I thought I could, I thought I could..."

Does anyone else remember that book?

Admit It, You've Had One Of These Moments

Would you nuke the class or not?

It reminds me of the passage from early on in The School of Good and Evil where Agatha farts to get rid of a bunch of too-inquisitive princesses. The narrator comments at about this point: "A true diversion creates both chaos and panic. Agatha delivered on both accounts."

XD What can I say? I have juvenile humor. Life with two younger brothers ensures that.

No More Fandoms!

Amy, you can't give me any more of your fandoms! I don't have time for anymore! Seriously, I swear, this is it!

True story: the other day in physics we were divided up into small groups and assigned a problem. Note: the teacher can be a bit of a troll. A likeable, funny troll (if you're of the disposition to like physics and also the physics teacher, which I luckily am), but still a troll.

We were asked to determine whether horizontal or vertical motion determined the time in two parts of a problem. We came to the unanimous conclusion that vertical motion determined the time in both parts and wrote that down accordingly.

The teacher came by, pointed to our answer for the first part, and announced, "Wrong!" before moving on the next group. We looked at each other, shrugged, erased our answer and put down 'horizontal' instead.

The teacher came by again, pointed to our answer, and said, "Extra wrong!" He moved on. We looked at each other in confusion.

"Neither?" someone suggested.

We put down 'neither'. The teacher came by again. He pointed to our answer and said, "So wrong! If this were on the test, you would automatically lose 100 points."

He moved on. By now, we were quite frustrated. "Both?" someone suggested.

And at that point, I said, "Maybe it's a wibbley-wobbley sort of timey-wimey thing..."

Finally, the teacher had had enough. "The answer to the first part does not depend on vertical or horizontal motion because it's given in the problem! The problem determines the time!"

Cue a groan from the whole class. At least, he proceeded to let us out a few minutes early. You can never go wrong with that.

Even so... *bangs head* ...I do not need another fandom to eat up my life. Do you know how hard it is to cope with so many already?

Because I Won't Be Ashamed Of My Faith

The battlefield is the heart of man.

-- Fyodor Dostoevsky

Hey, everyone! I found some great links if you like Catholic humor and quotes! I'm not on Facebook myself (*adopts Gollum voice* very scary place, mustn't go there) but here's some neat pages:

Catholic Gag

MONKROCK

And, of course, there's always Catholic Memes.

I have never had this happen, to my knowledge, although I have the sneaking suspicion that one of my confessions the priest had to cover up a laugh... One of the sins confessed involved kicking someone on the shin. It was about that point when I heard the suspicious noise.

XD I obviously don't mind sharing this story. Don't worry, I apologized to the guy. Apologizing to him for kicking him in the shin and for slamming him into a wall seemed to make him stop annoying me. The awkwardnes apparently was too great for the desire to annoy. Or perhaps the wall part made him think twice...

I don't know. It was several years ago now... Lessee... Goodness, it was like four years ago. Crikey. I feel old now.

Oh, and here's a very pretty picture, of one of my favorite saints (it's hard to pick just one, though):

Guess whose feast day is Sunday, the 29th? I don't care what crazy stories are told about him in modern fiction (I'm looking at you, Supernatural), St. Michael is awesome.

Here's another good one from the Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen:

Do not fear God for perfect love casts out fear. God is biased in your favor. God is more lenient than you because He is perfectly good and, therefore, loves you more. Be bold enough then, to believe that God is on your side, even when you forget to be on His.

Think on that a little more often.

The Hazards Of Baseball

In honor of the Braves winning the NL East, here's a funny gif for my sister.

Ouch. That poor guy. I don't know whether to laugh or cringe. I mean, it even knocked his helmet off. And then he just sort of looks around like, "What in the world just happened?"

...On the other hand... I feel sorry for the guy he slid into, as well.

The less-known hazards of baseball, folks! I can't wait to see what sort of safety regulations they'll come up with in order to try and prevent this from happening.

Happy Birthday, Bilbo and Frodo!

September 22nd is the birthday of Bilbo and Frodo!

The Hobbit I used to ignore even more than I ignored the four in The Lord of the Rings (shame on my irreverent youth!), now my favorite Hobbit. Three cheers for Bilbo, the bravest little Hobbit of them all!

"Go back?" he thought. "No good at all! Go sideways? Impossible! Go forward? Only thing to do! On we go!"

"I come from under the hill,
And under the hills and over the hills my paths led.
And through the air: I am he that walks unseen.
I am the clue-finder, the web-cutter, the stinging fly.
I was chosen for the lucky number.
I am he that buries his friends alive and drowns them and draws them alive again from the water.
I came from the end of a bag, but no bag went over me.
I am the friend of bears and the guest of eagles.
I am Ring-winner and Luckwearer;
and I am Barrel-rider."

"Farewell, King under the Mountain!" he said. "This is a bitter adventure, if it must end so; and not a mountain of gold can amend it. Yet I am glad that I have shared in your perils - that has been more than any Baggins deserved."

"If ever you are passing my way," said Bilbo, "don't wait to knock! Tea is at four; but any of you are welcome at any time!"

"Roads go ever ever on,
Over rock and under tree,
By caves where never sun has shone,
By streams that never find the sea;

Over snow by winter sown,
And through the merry flowers of June,
Over grass and over stone,
And under mountains in the Moon.

Roads go ever ever on,
Under cloud and under star,
Yet feet that wandering have gone
Turn at last to home afar.

Eyes that fire and sword have seen
And horror in the halls of stone
Look at last on meadows green
And trees and hills they long have known."

"The Road goes ever on and on,
Down from the door where it began,
And far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it meets some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say."

Thank you, Bilbo. And thank you, Professor Tolkien. You have changed my world for the better, and I would not have it any other way.

Aaaaaand here is where this post devolves into the many different gifs I have of Bilbo - and of Frodo, because we haven't forgotten him.

"Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though I oft have passed them by
A day shall come at last when I
Shall take the hidden paths that run,
West of the Moon, East of the Sun."

GKC For The Win!

Have I mentioned how much I love G. K. Chesterton today?

I'm collecting these quote cards of him. I'm really not apologetic about my admiration of him, am I? But he just makes so much sense!

I'm listing today some of my favorite GKC quotes. Don't worry. They're short and to the point.

"Angels can fly because they take themselves lightly."

"The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting; it has been found difficult and left untried."

"There are two ways to get enough. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less."

"Impartiality is a pompous name for indifference, which is an elegant name for ignorance."

"To have a right to do a thing is not at all the same as to be right in doing it."

"The word 'good' has many meanings. For example, if a man were to shoot his grandmother at a range of five hundred yards, I should call him a good shot, but not necessarily a good man."

"[Feminism] is mixed up with a muddled idea that women are free when they serve their employers but slaves when they help their husbands."

"Dear Sir: regarding your article, 'What's Wrong with the World?' I am. Yours truly."

"It isn't that they can't see the solution. It is that they can't see the problem."

"Drink because you are happy, but never because you are miserable."

"People use statistics the way a drunk uses a lamppost - more for support than for illumination."

G. K. Chesterton a day keeps insanity at bay!

You Are, I Am

You Are I Am, by MercyMe (a group probably most famous for I Can Only Imagine).

Every time I have turned on the radio the past couple of weeks (granted, it has always been to the same Christian station each time), this song has either been playing or came on as I was listening. And that is no exaggeration. It really has been every time.

I don't think it's a coincidence. I really don't believe in mere 'coincidences'. I believe in Providence.

Fantasie ist wichtiger als alles Wissen, denn Wissen ist begrenzt.

-- Albert Einstein

For those of you who do not understand German, the quote runs, Fantasy is more important than all science, for science is limited. 'Wissen' could also be translated as 'knowledge'. However, if you want to get really technical, the word 'science' itself actually comes from the Latin scientia, which means 'knowledge', from the verb scio, scire 'to know', so it's all the same thing in my opinion.

Ooh, Look, Funny Gifs

I had a lot of stuff to post today, okay? Now it is time for some gifs.

I am not a brony (or are only guys called bronies? I'm not sure) but, even so, this gif is applicable to a wide variety of situations, especially in my case. I get guilted into stuff a lot.

Nope. Not in my job description. You're on your own, fellas!

(By the way, have you seen The Avengers outtake where the Hulk guy says that and runs away? It's hilarious!)

Okay, this guy is a real-life ninja. Because I certainly would not want to take a running a leap and smash, even feet-first, through glass. And does he just perform a backwards somersault off the car hood (which may be quite hot)? YES.

This guy is amazing.

I don't know why. I just felt my blog needed this gif on it. I have a lot of '(Insert Character Here) Approves' gifs by now. Lessee...

I have (1) Bofur Approves (2) Gandalf Approves (3) and now Snape Approves. I also have Martin Freeman and Richard Armitage giving the camera the thumbs-up and a gif of Legolas that could easily be captioned 'Legolas Approves', if I knew how to add captions. So that sort of makes 5. Right?

This one needs no excuse. It's just funny. Although I have no clue what that green tirangle above Tony's head means. Obviously, I am not a comic book nerd. (Therefore, I must be a poser, blah, blah, blah. Whatever.)

Okay, I think I've done enough damage for today.

Some More Funnies

Really? Balloons? What do they have against poor, innocent balloons? This is very hateful and discriminatory of this museum. I think a protest needs to be staged.

There has to be a warning for this???!!! What is the world coming to?

Life just works that way, doesn't it?

Poor, poor Stormtrooper...

Science jargon. Now you know everything you need to know.

Bribing the spiders... hmm... we have not tried that yet. We shall file that tidbit away for future reference, in case we are reduced to such an extremity.

True story. I sort of lay there and glare at it. It is evil.

Fortunately, I have never done this. At least, I have never involved the dog. The dog is too stupid for tea parties, anyway.

Modern parenting for you. You have to start the kids early on these things, so they can learn the complex ins and outs while their brains are still young enough to develop the neurons. Y'know?

Awww... look! It's Master Chief and Mini Master Chief! D'awww...

For some reason, that really is cute. :)
